WAST CHOIR & Still We Rise road show at the Filia Conference

WAST is delighted to be opening this years Filia with the WAST choir at 9.45 and also performing “Still We Rise” at the Workshop in the morning

The FiLiA 2018 conference brings together sisters taking down patriarchy, fighting injustices across the world, fighting violence towards women, pay disparity, discrimination against refugees, racism, classism. No topic is taboo. All are welcome. The event is going to be held at the Lighthouse Venue 
12 Centenary Park, Coronet Way, Eccles, Salford, Manchester M50 1RE.
The Lighthouse Venue is just 2 minutes away from the M602, providing quick and easy access from the M6 and into Manchester City Centre. The Ladywell Metrolink stop is just 5 minutes walk away and free onsite car parking for 250 cars is available. 

The venue is fully accessible.

WAST Book Launch .. Listen To Our Voices

We welcome you to the Book Launch of Listen to our Voices! Writings by Women Asylum Seekers Together (WAST) Wednesday 20 June at 6 p.m. Performance Space 1, Manchester Central Library, St Peter’s Square We have written poems and stories on various themes, including what it is like to be a woman in our countries of origin, the challenges of being a woman seeking asylum in Britain, and hope, solidarity and appreciation of life despite difficult circumstances. Come along to hear us read our poems and stories to you! The book will be on sale at the evening. Admission is free, and all are welcome. The 10K and half marathon both start on Portland Street, the half marathon plots a course to Manchester City's Etihad Stadium, before heading west to Manchester United's Old Trafford, where it picks up the 10K route back into the city centre, finishing on Deansgate alongside the iconic Beetham Tower.
