A snapshot of our year together in 2025

This January we’ve been taking a look back at 2025, and celebrating another year supporting each other in what can feel like an increasingly hostile time.

WAST is a joint effort, and we’re so proud of everyone who makes the organisation and our community what it is. Here are some of our 2025 highlights:

A text visual of our 2025 highlights, including: 64 new members, 32 Friday drop-ins, 18 sewing sessions & choir practices, 13 dance sessions led by Afrocats, 3 outdoor trips, 11 choir performances, 1 Christmas Party and 20 years together

Our 20th anniversary year also included:

  • A brilliant drama production performed by WAST women.

  • Training in topics around asylum knowledge and campaigning.

  • And taking part in networking events, protests and conferences.

As ever, we continued to offer peer and staff support through signposting, referrals and practical guidance. As well as specialist support through visiting services.

Words from WAST members

But it’s not just about the numbers, it’s about the impact we can make together. Here’s what some of our members say WAST means to them…

“WAST is home away from home for us”

“This year has shown the true heart of WAST – our people. Through every challenge, our team has gone above and beyond to care for our members with compassion, courage and teamwork.”

“Because my parents and sisters live so far, I feel WAST is my family”

And here are a few thoughts following our trips to Edale in the Peak District…

“I feel refresh and very happy thank you so much!”

“The trip helps my wellbeing, very good thank you”

“Thank you WAST management and our lovely Edale team, it was fun filled day with lots of memories, the once in a year event is no miss, a well fun day it was. Thank you all for gracing the day.”

Celebrating 20 Years of WAST

2025 was our 20th anniversary, which means twenty years of campaigning for social justice and women’s rights through compassion, respect, inclusion and empowerment.

Thank you so much to all of our supporters past and present who support our women to reach their potential, have a voice and find their place in the UK. We can’t do it without you!
