Support our latest campaign
From Destitution to Dignity
No woman should be left without the means to buy food or access safe housing. But right now, over 20% of our members are living in destitution. Help us raise awareness about the realities of destitution, and provide support to vulnerable women in our community.
Our fundraising heroes
Rachel runs a marathon
Rachel raised a whopping £1500 for WAST when she ran the London Marathon 2026. What a hero! You can read Rachel’s story and why she wanted to run for WAST here.
A musical fundraiser in Manchester
Play For Planet put on a spectacular evening of music and good vibes at Fuel Cafe in Withington, raising over £500 for WAST. Read our blog to find out more about the Play For Planet fundraiser.
Buy our products
From choir performances to art exhibitions, the women in our network often take part in special creative projects as a way to share, celebrate and express their unique cultural heritage and talents. Several of these projects have culminated in three wonderful books that you can buy.
If you’d like to purchase any of our books, get in touch and we can arrange to post items to you. All proceeds go directly to supporting WAST women.
My Culture My Cookbook
£20 + P&P
A recipe book with dishes from Iraq to the Congo and Syria to Namibia. Many of the recipes are made from memory, handed down from grandmother to mother and to daughter.
This project was created by WAST and Afrocats, with funding from The National Lottery Community Fund, to give women more agency over their diets and share comforting memories of home.
Past, Present, Future
£10 + P&P
A collection of work written by members of a writing class held at WAST, supported by volunteer tutors teaching English language classes with our members.
“This is a remarkable book. The women who write in it were terrorised in their countries of origin and then silenced in the windowless world of the UK asylum system. But here, in these pages, they give voice… Take this book home and marvel, as I did, at the achievements of the women whose resilience and humanity brought it into being.”
– Juliet Stevenson
Your support matters
WAST is led by and for our members to help women survive the UK’s brutal asylum system.
We do this by providing much-needed community and solidarity; developing members’ confidence, skills and wellbeing; and providing opportunities for vulnerable women to take part in activities that help them overcome the trauma of their experiences.
As a small, grassroots charity, this simply would not be possible without the support of our generous funders, donors and wider community. Thank you!
