Summer appeal: fund a vital wellbeing activity

Many of the women in the WAST network are living in hotels or appalling housing conditions. They rarely get opportunities to leave the city and escape their daily stressors.

Women seeking asylum have a much higher risk of developing mental health issues due to the trauma and barriers they experience navigating the hostile asylum system.

We want to change this.

My family really enjoyed the trip at the beach last year, the atmosphere was really good. We don't get fresh air out of the city very often and my son has never seen the sea before. The kids are really looking forward to going again this summer! Juliana

Research has found that asylum seekers are more likely to experience poor mental health than the general population. But they are less likely to receive support.

To counteract this we want to take 120 women from our network and their children on a trip to Formby beach to support their wellbeing.

To fund the trip we need to raise £3,500 so we can pay for:

  • 2 coaches to and from Formby Beach

  • Bus fares to get the women to the meeting point

  • Food and refreshments for everyone

Any donation you can make will make a huge difference. Thank you for your support.
