WAST statement: High Court rules Rwanda plan lawful

In response to the high court ruling on 19 December 2022 that the UK government’s Rwanda plan in lawful the WAST management group said:

The High Court's decision today that the Government's Rwanda plan is lawful is deeply disappointing. The UK's asylum system will become even more hostile as a result.

This decision fails to recognise the intense trauma and distress that those navigating the system experience.

We stand alongside our allies, partners and friends and will continue to challenge this cruel and inhumane treatment of people seeking asylum.
